Department Overview

The Enterprise Cloud Foundation Department (EFD)'s mission is to aggregate Rakuten platforms through a unified user experience and seamless cross-use to accelerate Rakuten services to go-to market. As a horizontal organization, our success is connected to each vertical organization's own success.

The Product Development section is the creative hub of our organization, specializing in the design and support of development of Rakuten's varied SaaS offerings on the Horizon platform in the various Suites we offer. Our team focuses on creating user-centered designs and supporting our company's SaaS solutions to develop high-quality digital products that provide superior user experiences. We are dedicated to understanding our users' needs and translating them into intuitive, engaging, and innovative solutions. By working closely with the Horizon Development teams, we ensure a seamless integration of our products into the Horizon Platform, ultimately facilitating the efficient delivery of top-tier SaaS offerings to Rakuten's customers.

 

Overall Position Details

As a UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for designs that will be developed into prototypes and then future products. The role includes developing and translating our ideas into user experiences and interfaces. Ideally, you are creative, open-minded, and have strong communication skills. You will work closely with other stakeholders, ranging from product managers to engineers and other designers, and will successfully guide them from early-stage product concepts to launch.  You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative environment.

Your responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Learn and apply Rakuten Group branding and design guidelines.
  • Develop a deep familiarity with the technology environment and tools employed by your respective department.
  • Working closely with the design team, alongside other designers:
  • Support product planning through investigation and research, suggest feature refinements, and collaborate to make decisions on the creation of new features.
  • Participate in design conception through all project phases, from ideation, prototyping, creation, and asset delivery.
  • Communicate and validate design with stakeholders (engineers, marketing, product managers, etc...) and team through mock-up and prototyping.
  • Produce high-quality designs such as look and feel, layouts, menus, and buttons, etc.
  • Learn and analyze end-user behavior and pain points through continuous research and analysis.
  • Collect and analyze the “Voice of the Customer” and collaborate to implement customer feedback.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Experience in UI/UX (portfolio submission is required) (3 years+)
  • Knowledge in UX/UI principles and the ability to work effectively with design teams
  • Experience in wireframing tools, prototyping tools (inVision or similar), graphic design tools (Photoshop/Illustrator), and UI design (Figma or similar)
  • Strong design skills, with the ability to conceive, communicate and bring to life new UIs for new product functionality
  • Comfortable in conducting usability tests to verify the design

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience of writing UI/UX strategy for your designs
  • Knowledge about WCAG and accessibility
  • Business level of Japanese language
