zig-zag's policies during COVID-19 are as follows:
- Zig-zag is working fully remotely.
- Participation is optional of course, but they do occasionally have in-person events when welcoming new members.
- Japanese Language Policy
For engineers, Japanese skills are not required. Task management and meetings within the engineering team use English, but Japanese skills will come in handy when meeting with other teams since many of them speak mostly Japanese.
- Visa Sponsorship
Zig-zag sponsors visas as long as you meet the requirements of the Japanese government (but this is the case at every company). This usually means that you will need a bachelor's degree or 10 years of demonstrated work experience in your field.
- Paid Leave
Zig-zag’s PTO policy consists of annual paid leave following Japanese labor law.
The first year an employee joins, they’ll receive 10 PTO days, plus Saturdays and Sundays, New Year’s holiday (12/30-1/3) and all Japanese public holidays.
Each year the number of PTO days granted will increase by one (e.g. 11 days granted in year 2) up to a maximum pursuant with Japan’s labor laws.
Zig-zag provides the first 3 days of PTO immediately after joining, with the remaining 7 days after 6 months at the company (for a total of 10 days).
